5 Golden Rules of Website Design

In my last post I gave you a brief introduction of web design and what are its do’s and don’ts. Now I am going to tell you five rules which you can apply while designing any web page.

You may agree with me that your website is first impression of your company to your potential client. So it must reflect the perfect image of your company that how successful and professional your company is. It means it must delivers quality content for its intended audience and does so with elegance and style. Also it needs to be easy to use, informative and have all the necessary contact information. Software Developers India has presented some basic rules which are as follows:-
  • Content is king: - Content is the most important part of any website. A great website cannot survive in this market if its content is not appealing and interesting to the visitor. For visitors your website is source of information. So you have to be sure that it must be interesting and appealing to its viewers.
  • Easy on the Eye: - Effective websites are simple websites. So you must stay away from using strong colors and too many images. Every image that moves or blinks draws your visitors’ attention to itself, but be sure that it doesn’t distract them from the message you want to convey from your content.
  • Consistent design: - All pages of your website should be similar and indicate the user that they are still on the site. So you must ensure that pages of your website are similar in terms of color, font size, design, spacing, logos, headings and other elements like buttons.
  • Navigation: - Your viewers should be able to move around your website with ease and confidences i.e. assure them that they would be redirected their desired destination whether clicking tabs, hyperlinks and buttons.
  • User Interaction: - Your website must act like an interacting portal. You must get your visitors involved in the experience by putting signup box, query-form, questionnaire or survey data. It is useful for getting feedback and also you can understand what your visitor wants to see on your website.
Be sure to consider these golden rules when designing your website. They will ensure you that you are creating an effective and successful website that your client will enjoy. These rules also help you increasing your profits and reputation.

Do's and Dont's for Web Designing

Web designing is a general term which is used to describe any of the various tasks involved in creating a web page. But it is not a simple term as it seems. It encompasses different skills which are used for planning, creation and maintenance of websites. In technical term it can be defined as process of presentation of content (usually hypertext) delivered to a user through the World Wide Web.

In today’s world life is hard to imagine without internet and internet is nothing without animated graphics, different styles of typography, background and music, and all these comes under Web Designing.

While designing any website we must think about our users or visitors of our page.
Basically there are two aspects of any web page found on the Internet. First one is the visual presentation that the user interacts with, while the second is a back-end that includes information for non-human browsers.

While designing a website there is a process that most designers follow. It covers all the steps from deciding on a website to building it and putting them live. Those steps are:-
1)    What is the purpose of the site
2)    Start planning the site design
3)    Design starts after planning
4)    Gather or create the site content
5)    Now you can start building the site
6)    Then you should always test the site
7)    Upload the site to your hosting provider
8)    Marketing brings people to your Site
9)    And finally you will need to maintain your website

To ensure whether we design our website the right way, here is a look at some of the mistakes we need to avoid:-
1)    Providing Poor Navigation
2)    Making Visitors Wonder Where They've Landed
3)    Very Long Pages
4)    Slow Download Time
